What drum heads to use on my Tama Superstar Hyperdrive toms?
Okay so I just got a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive Custom 6 pc drumset.
And now I can't decide what to switch out the tom heads with!
1. I like 2 ply heads
2. I play more rock/metal songs
Also, I ABSOLUTELY hate overtones. But i don't wanna use dampening rings, etc.
So I was thinking of giving the heads with the special in-built muffling/dampening a try.
You know, like the Remo Pinstripes, Evans EC2 SST, Aquarian Performance ll...
So please, HELP ME!!!! : ((
i actually use evans ec2s myself. i would strongly recommend them. i actually just tried em out for the first time a few months ago, and i love em! i play mostly modern rock, and im a fan of the 2-plys myself, which is why i decided to go with these ones. so far, im getting exactly the sound that i want. however, im not a stickler for overtones. if you got nice drum shells, let em ring out a bit! keep in mind that the audience to whom you are playing will hear a much different sound than the person behind the set. if the player is hearing no overtones, then the audience will have trouble hearing the tone at all! just a thought.
